List of funny quotes that are Escher sentences
This is a collection of Escher Sentences – a list of examples. They are also known as “Comparative illusion (Wikipedia)” sentences.
An Escher sentence is one that initially seems acceptable, but upon further reflection has no well-formed meaning. e.g. “More people have been to Berlin than I have”.
If you are not paying attention, the sentences sound ok, but with some scrutiny you become aware that something is seriously wrong.
These are not Malaphors, or Mixed Idioms (or eggcorns), but they are a special class of messed-up phrases.
