Green behind the ears

A mixture of

  1. Wet behind the ears (meaning “The allusion is to the inexperience of a baby, so recently born as to be still wet”)
  2. “Green” from idiom “Not so green as I’m cabbage looking” (meaning “Discovered to be clever, or at least not quite so thick as previously thought”)

Heard in BBC White City.
