Burn bridges

To ruin any future opportunity or possibility by leaving a relationship, job or friendship in a bad way.

For example, having a fight or an argument, or badmouthing you ex-boss on the way out.

The “bridge” is figuratively your route back, and through your actions this route back is no longer available.
