Too many cooks spoil the broth / Soup

This means that if too many people are involved in a single task, that the outcome of the task will not be good.

This is especially the case for vocational or specialist tasks – hence the use of “chefs” as an expert in their field. This saying is particularly useful for niche and specialist contexts.

In the UK it is “Too many cooks spoil the broth”, and in the USA it is “Too many cooks spoil the soup”.
